Watt is Netball?

Never heard of netball? Here’s a bit about us…
Netball is a ball sport that lasts for 4, 15minute quarters which involves two teams, consisting of 7 players each, trying to score the most points by shooting into a net. Each player has a unique area of the court they are allowed in and must work together with teammates in order to get the ball up the court to goal. There’s some extra challenges like you cannot move with the ball plus netball is classed as a low contact sport, have a wee look here to see our sport in action: https://youtu.be/bumBd6Q0ucA

The club is run by our hardworking all student committee, who go above and beyond to welcome new and returning members to take part in netball. Whether you want to try netball for the first time, haven’t played since school or are already competitive we are the perfect club for you! We have regular socials where we get up to all kinds of fun and choas; from fancy dress, to balls, ceilidhs, sober nights in, comfy movie nights, pub nights and dinners, we have it all! We finish every academic year with a big club tour, which is organised by our tour secretary with previous destinations like Barcelona, Algrave and Budapest.

Competition & Training

We have 4 squads, with trials taking place in Semester 1 during weeks 0-2. Our squad matches are played on a Saturday as part of the BUCS league as well as the Conference Cup matches throughout the season and a one-off SSS (Scottish Student Sport) Tournament. The CENA team also plays games on a Sunday evenings. For non-competitive members we also have opportunities throughout the year to get involved with like fun recreational tournaments.
