Newsletter – Start of Semester

What a start to the year it has been!

Welcome to all new students and Sports Union members, and welcome back to all returning members! Hopefully you are settled into campus life and keeping on top of your studies and looking forward to what the rest of the year has in store for you.

Watt Welcome Fair

This years Watt Welcome Fair was the biggest and best we have ever had with 1400 people through the door, seeing all that we have to offer as a University and a Sports Union. It was a great way to kick off the welcome week and showcase the best of Heriot-Watt. A massive thank you to all of our club committee volunteers and ambassadors who helped make the day engaging and fun!

BUCS Competition

The return of BUCS at Oriam on the 28th September saw us celebrate some fantastic performances and Watt Wins!

A massive well done to our Women’s rugby team who started teh season with a bang, beating Dundee 36-10 and our Watt Win of the Week went to our Men’s 4s Football Team who beat Napier 2s 2-1!

A week later we held a Watt Big Wednesday where we brought home 7 Watt Wins! Our Men’s Fencing team made history playing their first ever BUCS Premier fixture in Oriam Against St Andrews in front of a lively crowd in Sports Hall 1. It was our Women’s Basketball team that brought home the Watt Win of the Week beating GCU 44-28!

The weekend saw more Watt Wins with Our Netball 1s beating rivals Edinburgh Uni 58-38 on Edinburgh turf, and our Cricket team winning their first ever indoor fixture beating St Andrews in a close encounter!

The Watt Win Counter now stands at 22!
