Heriot-Watt University Sports Union are recruiting support staff and coaches in a number of paid and voluntary roles within our clubs. 

About Us

Heriot-Watt Sports Union is the student-focused organisation that provides sport and exercise opportunities for Heriot-Watt students based at the world class facilities within Oriam, shared with some of the best athletes in the country. 

With a sports performance programme, and over 30 different clubs offering a range of activity from recreational fun to competition in a safe and welcoming environment, there’s a place in the WattFamily for everyone regardless of sporting ability or experience. 

Off the field, the Sports Union also hosts some of the best social events in town and promotes career development through volunteering and education programmes. 



Coaching Roles

Rugby Coach  

HWU Rugby Club are looking to recruit a number of coaches to provide specialist training across four men’s squads. Paid positions are available for qualified coaches. Weekly commitment levels are negotiable.  

  • Pay based on experience and availability. All coaches must  
  • Training: Monday 17:00 – 19:00, Friday 15:00 – 17:00 
  • Matches (BUCS): Wednesday afternoon 
  • Location: Oriam, Scotland’s Sport Performance Centre. 
  • All coaches must complete the relevant Rugby Right modules.  
  • Offers are subject to PVG checks

About You

You will be a qualified to the required level with relevant experience within your sport.

You are passionate about developing teams and individuals.

You have excellent communication, time-keeping and organisation skills.

You are looking to further progress your coaching career with the development opportunities available as a Heriot-Watt coach.

Supporting Roles

Matchday physio

Heriot-Watt Sports Union are looking for matchday physio/ sports first aiders to support our teams for Wednesday afternoon BUCS fixtures and some weekend activity. 

We can provide remuneration and/or support with student practical hours if applicable. Kit and travel can be provided for home and away matches.
