Maybe you can’t commit to training and matches or haven’t managed to make it into one of our teams this year? Maybe you play another sport for Heriot-Watt University but still enjoy a game of football? Maybe you live in halls of residence and are looking for something to do with your Sunday evenings? Maybe you are the first name on the BUCS team sheet but still fancy an extra run around with current and former teammates?
Enter a team into the brand new Intramural Football League which kicks off on Sunday 1st October 2023. The league run will run for 8 weeks and there are plenty of prizes up for grabs for league winners and top goal scorers. Every team is guaranteed a one-hour match slot every week, and teams who ensure to fulfil all of their fixtures will get their last match for free!

Winter/Spring 2023 League
Match Rules
- 7-a-side matches
- Teams can have up to 2 subs
- Rolling substitutions
- Kick-ins to restart (no throw-ins)
- Restart from centre after goals
- Corner kicks are permitted
- Two-step run-up for penalties
- No slide tackles allowed
- All free kicks are indirect
- If there are less than 5 players present at kick-off, the team forfeits their match
League Rules
- All teams must pay the £21.00 registration fee
- The match fee is £21.00 per team, regardless of how many members a team has
- Teams who fulfil all league fixtures will receive their last match free of charge or a refund on their registration
- If a team forfeits a match or fails to appear for their match, they lose their registration fee for the season
- Fixtures will be published every Monday for the following Sunday
- Matches will start at either 6pm or 7pm, 8pm, 9pm every Sunday
- Team captains have 72 hours to confirm that they are aware of their upcoming fixture
- Payments can be made online or by contactless payment on the night
- If you are struggling for players, email imfootball@hw.ac.uk and you will be allocated spare players to fulfil your fixture
- 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 for a loss
- Teams that finish on equal points will be differentiated based on head to head, then goal difference, then goals scored
- A walkover/forfeited match will result in a 5-0 defeat to the team conceding the match
