How did you get into your sport?

My father fenced and he took me to a club when I was 7 and I have been fencing ever since.

What are the best and most challenging things about your sport?

The best thing about fencing is that you have to think and strategise while exercising in a way you don’t get to do in normal life.

What have been your biggest achievements to date?

I have competed for the United Kingdom on an international stage at European satellite competitions and I have competed for Northern Ireland and the Junior Commonwealth Games.

What are your goals in your sport?

I am hoping to compete for the UK again in more competitions but have been unable to this year due to coronavirus shutting down the competitions I wished to go to. My ultimate long term goal is to compete at the Commonwealth Games.

What do you do to relax when you’re not training or competing?

To relax I enjoy reading my favourite novels tend to be anything written by Bernard Cornwall.

Who is your sporting icon, and why?

My icon would be Dick Fosbury as he completely revolutionised his sport of high jump with the invention of the Fosbury Flop.

Tell us a fun fact…

My nickname as a fencer when I was younger was “Backline” as when a match started I walked the backline slowly and stayed there for the whole match.
