How did you get into your sport?

My brother inspired me to start playing rugby when I was about 9 and he was around 7. I used to go with my dad and watch him play and thought I’d give it a go. When my brother passed away when he was 8, I continued playing rugby with him constantly in mind. I wanted to do him proud and, at the same time, pave the way for women in male-dominated sports such as rugby and be a good role model to my younger sisters.

What are the best and most challenging things about your sport?

I’ve experienced a lot of sexist comments playing a male-dominated sport, however this has become less common over time. The best part about it is the opportunity to meet so many amazing people. The culture around rugby is very positive and the people are most commonly respectful to referees and opponents on the pitch.

What have been your biggest achievements to date?

Playing in the European 7s tournament in Poland last summer and placing 6th out of over 24 countries has to be one of my proudest achievements to date.

What are your goals in your sport?

To encourage as many young girls and women as possible to enter into the sport, despite what anyone else has to say. To work my hardest and stay in national rugby as long as possible.

What do you do to relax when you’re not training or competing?

Skateboard, play guitar, sew clothes and play video games.

Who is your sporting icon, and why?

Simone Biles. Her work ethic and list of achievements at such a young age is incredibly admirable.
