How did you get into your sport?

I started playing rugby at 9 years old. I did play football first but I had a much greater interest in rugby and it suited me more as an athlete (or maybe I got sick of being stuck in goals!)

I started my rugby career at Livingston Rugby club which was local to me, then I moved to play for Currie RFC in Edinburgh.

What are the best and most challenging things about your sport?

Rugby is a team sport which holds core values such as team-work, dedication, leadership and respect. These values can be used in any context such as business/work and everyday life.

Due to the sport being physical, this can lead to injury, which can be frustrating when you aren’t able to play the sport you enjoy.

What have been your biggest achievements to date?

I have played for Scotland U18-U20 and was involved in the Junior World Cup in Georgia where Scotland had their highest ever finish. We only lost to New Zealand, beating Ireland, Italy, and Australia in our last game.

I play professionally for Edinburgh and have done for 3 years now, approaching 50 professional games. I have been named in mens’ Scotland 6 Nations squads, which has been great training at the top level.

What are your goals in your sport?

My goal is to become an international player; playing for my country has always been a dream of mine.

What do you do to relax when you’re not training or competing?

To switch off from the pressures of sport I find doing some university work helps, although if I am too tired for that I enjoy gaming or catching up with friends with a coffee.

Who is your sporting icon, and why?

Conor McGregor. I feel his belief and mentality is what is needed to reach the top of any sport.
