About Our Club
The HWU Table Tennis Club was founded in 2018 with a vision of offering the sport of table tennis to all within the Heriot-Watt community and quickly proved to be popular. The club became an officially constituted Sports Union club for the 19/20 season. We welcome players of all abilities to join us for our weekly recreational and training sessions, and firmly believe that table tennis is a sport which offers real enjoyment to all those who pick up a bat.
What does a typical season involve?
Throughout the season the club runs weekly recreational sessions for everyone of all abilities, these are mainly for fun and meeting new people in a casual environment, but can be used to practice just the same. There is also a weekly session for competitive play – this session works to train the team players with the help of a professional coach. We have two teams that compete in the Edinburgh and Lothians Table Tennis league on a weekly basis, one of which is in division 3 and the other in division 4. As well as this we participate in BUCS, a university league, which gives a great opportunity to meet players from different universities. We also have various socials throughout the year, some of which are joint with other sports clubs so there’s plenty going on throughout the year!
